OKAY….now what? (and other questions I had for Google)

Hey, you! —

So after all the dreaming big about becoming a food photographer, and all the decision making to finally take the leap, and all the “wow, I’m really doing this, aren’t I?” was over…it was time to get down to business.

That’s where I ran into a bit of a wall.

What was I actually going to DO to make my food photography business a reality?

How was I actually going to improve my food photos?

How was I actually going to — oh sh*t! — start getting paid???

It turned out, *saying* I was going to start a thriving food photography business, and actually *doing* it were two very different things.

And I KNEW the answers to my questions were out there…somewhere. I knew that I could learn, I just needed the right information.

So, I did what anyone else would do when they have questions — I Googled: “how to make money as a food photographer.”

Well, I’m here to tell you I didn’t get much out of that. Like…at all.

No one had the honest, actionable answers I was looking for. There was business advice, sure. And there was photography advice, sure.

But I needed to figure out how to integrate both sides of the equation. I needed someone to say: “here’s what ya do, kid. Now go get ’em.”

And Google just couldn’t do that for me. It only got me so far.

I had to bridge the gap myself, mostly through trial and error. AND LET ME TELL YA: it took a really looooooooooong time.

But now that I finally have that thriving food photography business? I can be for others what Google couldn’t be for me.

So if you’re frustrated by the lack of real information out there….If you’re sick of master classes that don’t teach you anything useful….If you’re DONE looking at your food photos and feeling like they’re not living up to their potential…. If you want to feel confident reaching out to brands, and not like a phony….If you want to be a food photographer AND a boss with a legit income stream?
