Build Your Capsule Prop Collection

You’ve heard of capsule wardrobes before, Alejandra, now get ready for capsule props!

Or, maybe you haven’t heard of a capsule wardrobe before actually and you’re already SO totally lost…no sweat!

A capsule wardrobe is just a term used to describe a small collection of clothing (anywhere from 25 to 50 pieces) that all go together and create cohesive outfits no matter what you put on. So, for example, if you paired any shirt in your capsule wardrobe with any pair of pants…it would end up looking good together!

Well, you can do the same thing with food photography props. 😏

Creating a capsule prop collection starts with a few carefully selected items that fit your visual brand and work with a variety of different foods and vibes.

To start your collection, you’ll want to pick props that look great with savory dishes, desserts, baked goods, cocktails, and anything else you might photograph.

So something like a green and pink polka-dot bowl? Maybe not exactly the best bet for your capsule prop collection… (though we are totally here for it once you’ve got your base props!)

But a cream linen napkin? That goes with everything! 🙌

All these props work well in a variety of different settings (PLUS they look good *together* too!) so you can use them over and over again without needing to go out and spend money on a whole new prop collection every time you do a shoot.
